Colombia Coffee Suitability

Spring 2024

River Falls, WI

ArcGIS Pro

This map of the suitability of coffee growth in Colombia was created as my final project for my GIS Analysis and Modeling course (GIS 460) in Spring 2024 at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. Using ModelBuilder, initial data was collected for territorial boundaries and city points. Meteorological data was collected for temperature and rainfall averages for each city selected. Interpolation of temperature and rainfall were conducted using Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW). Percent slope, elevation, temperature averages, and rainfall averages were reclassed and summed to determine areas of most suitability.

This project was featured at the 2024 Undergraduate Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity Gala at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls
